Robbie's Biography
Robbie has proudly called the Regent Neighborhood her home for 15 years. She has served on the Madison Common Council representing the 5th District since 2003, where she has become known as a fierce advocate for smart land use and transportation decisions. She has also fought to protect community services and to enhance social justice legislation. She currently serves on the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Long Range Transportation Planning Commission, Pedestrian/Bicycle/Motor Vehicle Commission, Joint West Campus Area Committee, South Campus-Regent Street Plan Committee, and Streetcar Committee. In the past, she has served on - and she continues to be involved with - the Transit and Parking Commission and the Commission on the Environment.
Robbie received her BA from UW-Madison in Latin American Studies and Sociology in 1980. In 1986, she returned to UW-Madison for a graduate degree in Geography, and she has been here ever since. She has been employed for eight years as Program Coordinator at Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin. She currently works with communities around the state and the Wisconsin Partnership for Physical Activity and Nutrition (WI PAN) to improve community design and infrastructure in order to increase physical activity. She is also working on a planning grant from the Wisconsin Partnership for a Healthy Future.
